WCAG ACCESSIBILITY STANDARD

The accessibility standard I build to.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at level AA. That is the standard courts and federal guidance point at, and the one I test this site against.

This is what I build to and test against, not a certificate. Where a page falls short, I fix the page.

WHAT MAKES A SITE ACCESSIBLE

What is built into every page.

None of this is an add on. It is how the pages are made.

  • Every function works from the keyboard alone, with a focus outline you can see
  • Text meets the contrast ratio against its background, including on the dark bands
  • Images carry alt text that says what the image is, not what keyword it is for
  • Headings run in order, so a screen reader can move through a page by structure
  • Every form field has a label attached to it, and errors say what to do next
  • Nothing moves, flashes or auto plays, and the site respects a reduced motion setting
  • Text reflows to a phone and stays readable when you zoom to two hundred percent

KNOWN ACCESSIBILITY LIMITATIONS

Where this site still falls short.

Two places. The calendar that books calls and the payment page are built by other companies, so their internals are not mine to rewrite. I test both, and if one blocks you, email or call me and I will book the call or take the payment with you directly.

Video and audio published here carry captions. If you find one that does not, that is an oversight, not a policy. Tell me and it gets fixed.
