SEO AUDIT SOFTWARE

The Audit Should Remember.

Most SEO reporting is a fresh pile of problems every month with no link to last month. Mine opens an issue, ages it where you can see it, and closes it when it is gone.

drop: SEO audit issues tracked across runs with dates and resolutions marked

at a glance

An SEO audit platform that gives every issue a persistent identity across runs: an issue opens the first time a run finds it, keeps first-seen and last-seen dates while it keeps appearing, and resolves itself the moment a later run no longer contains it, with ranking snapshots stored per run and a weekly or monthly cadence set per client.

the problem
Most SEO audits are a static document. Each file or report is a snapshot in time with no continuity between runs.
who has it
Any business or agency running recurring SEO audits, where the same findings recur month after month and nobody can see what actually got fixed.
the pain
The same issue can appear in three consecutive monthly audits with nothing recording that it has been open for three months. Clients cannot see progress and the person doing the work cannot see which issues are actually getting fixed.
cost of doing nothing
Recurring findings get rediscovered instead of resolved, progress never becomes legible, and the audit becomes a wall of text the client stops reading.

01 · WHY SEO AUDITS GET IGNORED

Why SEO audits get ignored.

Most SEO audits hand you a static document. Each crawl, each file, each report is a snapshot with no link to the one before it.

That sounds harmless until the same issue appears in three consecutive monthly audits with nothing recording that it has been open for three months. You cannot see whether anything is improving, and the person doing the work cannot see which findings get fixed versus which keep getting rediscovered and retyped.

So the audit becomes a wall of text everybody stops reading. That is not a complaint about effort. It is the direct consequence of a document that carries nothing forward.

02 · LIVING SEO AUDIT

How the living audit tracks an issue.

An issue behaves the way a ticket behaves. The first time a run finds it, it opens and gets stamped with a first-seen date. Every run after that, if it is still there, the last-seen date updates, so its age is a fact. The moment a later run stops finding it, it closes itself.

A first-seen and a last-seen date on every issue, so age is a fact and not an estimate
Issues close themselves when the next run no longer finds them
A run history with the raw ranking snapshot behind each run, so the timeline is real
An open count by severity, so you triage what is actually open instead of the whole pile
A per-issue view showing its full life from first-seen to resolved

03 · SEO ISSUE TRACKER

How a finding keeps its identity.

The trick that makes all of it work is identity. Every issue gets a signature, a deterministic hash of the client and the issue title, so the same finding produces the same signature on every run.

That signature is how the platform knows it is looking at the same issue it saw last month. When a run finishes, every signature in it gets compared against the client's open issues. A signature never seen before opens a fresh issue. A signature already on file updates its last-seen date and stays open. A signature that used to be open and is now missing gets resolved, with the resolving run and the resolved date stamped on the record.

Resolution is a consequence of the data instead of a status somebody has to remember to click. The database tells the truth about progress and nobody maintains it by hand.

04 · AUTOMATED SEO AUDIT PLATFORM

What the audit platform runs on.

A small, deliberate stack, because the interesting part is the model and not the plumbing.

Four Postgres tablesOne for clients, one for the versioned SEO brief, one for runs, and one for the issues. A relational model gives each issue a stable row to age and resolve against, which a folder of files cannot.
A server-rendered appThe dashboard reads the database the moment you open the page. A tracker that shows you last week's state is not a tracker.
Ranking snapshots stored rawEvery run keeps its full ranking and search-result response, so the history can be reconstructed rather than trusted. The snapshot is the evidence behind the run.
A unique constraint per findingOne issue signature per client, enforced at the database level, so the same finding cannot quietly become two open issues.

05 · SEO AUDIT CADENCE

Which sites run, and how often.

Cadence is set per client rather than globally, because a clinic and a gym do not need the same rhythm.

My own site runs weekly, every Monday, pulling a ranked-keyword snapshot and triaging its own open issues. GIOStar Wellness runs monthly on a healthcare cadence, with out-of-cycle re-audits after any Google core update or any announcement aimed at medical and financial topics. Boneyard Strength, a gym I own, runs monthly as an actively tracked site.

One schema serves all three, with a tier that separates clients whose issues get worked from clients who simply get the monthly read.

06 · SEO AUDIT SOFTWARE COMPARISON

Your SEO audit software options.

Three good tools and one different idea.

OptionWhat it costsWhat goes wrong
Ahrefs Site AuditA subscriptionAn excellent crawler that trends health metrics over time, but each crawl is its own report instead of a per-issue lifecycle you triage and close
Screaming FrogA license per seatA desktop crawler that produces a fresh export each run, so there is no persistent issue identity and nothing closes itself
Hand-written audit documentsThe time of whoever writes themA new file every run with no link back to the prior finding, so the same issue gets described from scratch and its age is lost
This platform, run for youFive hundred a month on the SEO lineIt is opinionated about titles, because a reworded finding gets a new signature and opens as a new issue. Stability is the trade for determinism

07 · SEO AUDIT SOFTWARE PRICING

What SEO audit software costs.

$1,000 a month for the SEO line, which is what this platform runs inside. Same number I quote everybody, printed here instead of held back for a call. Two services together are $1,799 and three are $2,499. No setup fee.

No setup fee. Three months, then month to month with thirty days' notice. You own the site, the analytics, the Search Console property and the Google Business Profile, so if you leave you leave with all of it.

What I will not do is promise you a position. Google itself warns against anybody who does. What I will promise is that every finding carries a date you can open, and every closed issue names the run that closed it.

08 · COMMON SEO AUDIT SOFTWARE QUESTIONS

SEO audit software questions.

What is SEO audit software?
A tool that scans a site for search problems and reports them. Most produce a static report each run. This one is a tracker: every issue has a persistent identity, ages across runs, and closes itself when a later run no longer finds it.
How is a living audit different from a normal SEO audit?
A normal audit is a snapshot with no link to the last one, so the same issue can recur for months with nothing recording its age. Here every finding has a first-seen date, a last-seen date and a resolved state, so progress is visible.
How does an issue close itself?
Each issue gets a deterministic signature. When a run completes, any open issue whose signature is missing from that run flips to resolved, with the resolving run and date stamped. Nobody closes issues by hand.
Is this just Ahrefs Site Audit or Screaming Frog?
Those are excellent crawlers, and each crawl is its own report or export. Ahrefs trends metrics over time. This tracks each issue as a record across runs, with a resolved state and a client-readable dashboard.
Where does the ranking data come from?
A search-data provider supplies ranked-keyword and result-position snapshots, and every run stores its raw response so the history can be reconstructed. It is a platform cost instead of something metered to you.
Can I see it before I hire you?
Yes. Every audit I have published is at its own address and open to anybody, which is the whole argument. Read one before you decide.
