article · AI LEAD SCORING VS MANUAL LEAD SCORING
Rank The Leads YouAlready Have.
Manual scoring is a rule somebody wrote once and never revisited. AI scoring reads every lead the same way and, done properly, writes down why. Here is what actually changes and how to check either one.

01 · what is ai lead scoring
What AI lead scoring is.
Software reading every inbound lead and ranking it against the leads that turned into paying work before. It weighs what the person asked for, how they found you, what they wrote, how fast they replied, and what happened to people who looked like them.
Manual scoring is the same idea by hand: a form fill is worth ten points, a phone call thirty, and that rule has run ever since. The difference is not intelligence, it is upkeep. A manual score reflects the market on the day it was written. A model reflects the last ninety days if you feed it the last ninety days.
02 · is ai lead scoring better than manual lead scoring
Where AI and manual scoring each win.
Neither is better in the abstract. It comes down to lead volume and to whether you need to explain a score to somebody else.
| what you need | Manual scoring | AI scoring |
|---|---|---|
| Fewer than about thirty leads a month | Fine. You can read all of them yourself. | Not worth wiring up. Too little history to learn from. |
| A reason you can defend to a partner | Easy. You wrote the rule. | Only if the tool records why it scored what it scored. |
| Catching a pattern nobody thought to look for | It cannot. It only knows the rule. | This is the entire point of it. |
| Staying current as the market moves | Somebody has to remember to revisit it. | It moves with the data, for better and for worse. |
| Being able to audit it later | The rule is a document you can open. | Depends on whether every score is logged with its inputs. |
03 · how accurate is ai lead scoring
How to measure lead scoring accuracy.
A vendor accuracy number is close to meaningless, because the vendor chose the test. What matters is whether your close rate on the leads it ranked high beats your close rate overall, measured on your own leads, over a long enough window.
Most owners never measure it, which is how a scoring tool survives two years without anyone knowing whether it helped.
04 · when to switch from manual lead scoring
When to switch to AI scoring.
The switch pays when lead volume has outrun the attention available to read them, and you have enough closed history for a model to learn from. Under that, a written rule and ten minutes a day beats a model you cannot check.
05 · ai lead scoring cost
What AI lead scoring costs.
Lead scoring sits inside the AI Systems line, and a line is $1,000 a month. The line also covers the front desk that answers after hours, the automations that move work between your tools, and training your people.
Two lines together are $1,799. Three are $2,499. No setup fee, and you can leave in any month after the first three with thirty days notice and take the CRM, the data and every automation with you.
