What AI web design is.
Using models to generate the layout, the code and often the copy of a website from a description. It genuinely works, and it collapses the part of the job that used to take weeks into an afternoon.
Traditional web design is the same outcome reached by a person making each decision. Slower, more expensive, and no better by default, because a bad decision made slowly is still a bad decision.
The trade is not speed against quality. It is speed against judgment. Generation is close to free, and the site is only as good as the thinking in the brief.

Risks of AI website builders.
The common failure is a site that looks finished and says nothing. Generated copy is fluent, generic and occasionally untrue about your business, and a page of confident filler reads worse to a buyer than a plain page of facts.
The second failure is ownership. If the site only exists inside somebody else's platform, you do not have a website. You have a subscription with a picture of one.

What a website costs in Las Vegas.

Two lines together are $1,799. Three are $2,499. Three months, then month to month, thirty days notice, and you leave with the domain, the site, the hosting, the analytics and a full export. Nothing to rebuild.
