Almost always because something on the profile stopped matching what Google can verify elsewhere. An address that does not match your other listings, a category that does not match what you do, a name with extra words in it, or a service area business showing a street address it does not staff.

There are two kinds. A soft suspension means the listing is still visible in search but you have lost the ability to manage it. A hard suspension means the listing is gone from search and from Maps. Check which one you have first, because they are handled differently.

Suspensions are frequently triggered by an edit rather than by anything wrong. A batch of changes made in one sitting, especially to the name, address or category, is the most common trigger, which is why the fix starts with knowing exactly what changed and when.

Notice how many of these are consistency problems rather than rule breaking. The profile is being checked against everything else Google can see about you, so the repair is usually to make the rest of the web agree with the profile.

Some cases come back within a few days. Others run for weeks, particularly when video verification is requested or the industry is regulated. There is no queue position to check and no way to escalate.

While you wait, put the work into the surfaces you control. Make the name, address and phone number on your website match the profile exactly, fix the same details on the other directories that list you, and keep answering the calls that arrive through everything else.

One thing worth doing in that window is a written record of every difference you found between the profile and the rest of the web, with the date each was fixed. If a second review happens later, that record is the fastest way through it.
